In order to mitigate the environmental impacts of new construction and add landscape amenities in dense urban environments "Synthetic Landscapes" or 'landscapes on structure' have become increasingly common. Although many landscapes on structure are "off the shelf" packages, detailing and specification differs based on site and vegetation and becomes highly technical. This project was a design and detailing exercise of an outdoor social space on the roof of the Frohnmayer Music hall at University of Oregon, to explore the interface where landscape becomes its most architectural.
