A 50,000 sf museum located in the heart of Portland Oregon along the North Park Blocks. This museum has the purpose of preserving war-time correspondence but also the obligation to deliver these intimate stories ,written between soldiers and their loved ones, to the public in order to convey the sacrifices and horrors endured during war that we may find new conviction to uphold and strive for peace. This living memorial needed to have a civic presence while integrating both secure preservation and public display of the correspondence. The program includes exhibition space, a research library, carefully conditioned archive, memorial garden space, a café, a bookstore, administration offices, and a gift shop.
